26 Promotions – Show Low, AZ – (September 7, 2018) – Alex Pettas scored a top-five finish and a ninth-place finish with the ASCS Southwest Region over the Labor Day Weekend in Show Low, Ariz.

“We started off the weekend with a brand-new Triple X car and Factory Kahne shock package,” said Pettas. “We’ve been struggling this year, so we thought it was time to put another car together and try a few new things. We had a mediocre pill draw that would have us starting fourth in the first heat. We had a bad start due to a stumble caused by a bad fuel bypass which would plague our whole weekend. We fell back a spot, rode around and finished 5th.”

The heat race result would line Pettas up 10th to start Saturday night’s feature.

“We were pretty conservative with the setup of the car prior to the feature,” he explained. “With it being a new car and package, we weren’t really sure of how drastic of changes we should make. We were pretty free in the feature, but we were still managing to go forward slowly.”

Saturday night’s feature would be cut short five-laps due to a lighting issue that would see the track go dark. Pettas ended night one with a ninth-place finish.

Sunday night would see Pettas start on the pole and finish second in the second ASCS Southwest Region heat race, earning him enough points to make the feature re-draw where he’d pull a one to start on the pole for the 25-lap feature.

“Sunday night we went a little more drastic on the setup of the car which resulted in the car being a little too snug,” he said. “We slowly fell back to fifth, where we eventually finished.”

Pettas now has two top-five and eight top-ten finishes with the ASCS Southwest Region this season.

“It had been ten years, almost to the day, that we last raced at Show Low Speedway Park. It’s always a pleasure, and we hope that it will become a yearly staple on our schedule once again,” he said. “Skyler Deskins and her team did a fine job all weekend, as well as Jason Rominger of the ASCS Southwest Region. I can’t thank my team, Cody and Mack enough, as well as my wife Michelle, who has been taking care of our brand-new daughter Emma, so that we could focus on building these new cars. None of this would be possible without all of our great partners.”

Pettas will be back in action on September 15th with the ASCS Southwest Region at Arizona Speedway.

Alex Pettas would like to thank Lorri Keough, Engler Machine & Tool, Matt Hummell at FK Indy, Collin Bender with Desert Racing Design, Kaleb Hart with Triple X Race Cars, Bernie S. with Indy Race Parts, the team at Ti64 Titanium, Charles Davis Jr. with Conroy “Pneu” Control, Paint by Steve and Bell Helmets, Jonah Trussel with Arizona Speedway, and Buster L. with 6x Specialties for their continued support.
