26 Promotions – Show Low, AZ – (September 5, 2018) – After a two-month break, Jesse Baker and the ASCS Southwest Region returned to racing this weekend at Show Low Speedway Park.

“The first night we pulled a good pill and started on the outside of the front row of the second heat,” explained Baker. “We were running second, battling for the lead when the right rear wheel hub broke going into turn three causing us to hit the outside wall.”

Baker and his team got the car back to the pit area and began working to repair the rear of the car for the feature.

“We got the rear of the car fixed and then noticed right before the main that we had bent the front axle,” he said. “We switched out front ends and couldn’t get the brakes to bleed back to normal, so we went out with virtually no brakes.”

With little to no front brakes, Baker was still able to drive from 14th to 10th to end the first night in Show Low.

Heading into night two Baker and his team replaced the front brakes and made a couple of slight changes to the car in hopes of making up some ground they lost in the championship standings from the night before.

Baker would start and finish fourth in heat one on a locked down track; the result was enough to make the feature re-draw where he’d pull the four to start on the outside of the second row for the 25-lap feature.

“Knowing that the track was still locked down for the main, we left the car exactly the same from the heat race,” he explained. “We were able to get a good start and came out second on the first lap. We stayed there right up until the end of the race and fell back one spot for a solid third-place finish.”

Baker currently sits second in the ASCS Southwest championship standings as the series heads to Arizona Speedway on September 15th.

Jesse Baker would like to thank Mesilla Valley Transportation, www.soldfast.us, Jackson Compaction, Budlong Racing Engines, CSI Shocks, XXX Racing Products, and Ti22 Performance for their continued support.
