26 Promotions – Las Cruces, NM – (June 20, 2018) – Dennis Gile raced from eighth to his second feature win Saturday night with the NMMRA Non-Wing Sprint Cars at Southern New Mexico Speedway.

“Rue Stone and Royal Jones invited us down for this race, and we decided that we needed the laps and needed to keep getting better,” said Gile. “They added new clay on the track, and it rained until about noon on Saturday, so we were nervous if we were going to race. The track ended up being pretty good, it had a lot of moisture, and the new clay held up all night.”

Gile stormed to a heat race win, earning a spot in the feature redraw as the night’s high point driver. He pulled the eight during the redraw to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the 30-lap feature.

“I knew I had my work cut out for me with Rick Ziehl and a couple of other good guys up front,” said Gile. “My dad had the car hooked up, and I could drive it anywhere I wanted. I'm not usually the best guy on the bottom, but I was really good on the bottom in one and two. It was a weird deal being that good on the bottom, and that’s where I was catching guys.”

Gile worked his way up to third within the first five laps and traded second back and forth a few times before claiming the position for good late in the race.

“Once I cleared second, Ziehl was about a half lap ahead of us. We reeled him and with two to go we made the pass for the lead,” explained Gile. “We had a late yellow, and I was able to pull away on the restart.”

Gile would lead the final laps to secure his second victory this year.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen my dad smile like that before,” said Gile. “I’ve played sports my whole life, and I think for me that was the coolest experience that I’ve ever been a part of, being able to celebrate with my dad and my uncle is something that I’ll always cherish.”

Gile is currently scheduled to be off from racing until August 15th when the USAC Southwest Series resumes with the Freedom Tour at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Dennis Gile would like to thank Walker Performance Filtration, Sands Chevrolet, Dennis Gile Quarterback Academy, and Bobby Q’s for their continued support.
