26 Promotions – Las Cruces, NM – (April 12, 2018) – Colton Hardy strapped into a 305 Sprint Car for the first time in his career over the weekend for the 305 Sprint Shootout at Southern New Mexico Speedway.

“First off, I have to thank Casey Minks and everyone on his team for giving me the opportunity to race for him,” said Hardy. “After breaking a rear end in practice on Thursday, we changed the rear end out and had the car ready for Friday.”

After finishing third from fourth in his heat, Hardy and the Casey Minks crew made some adjustments to the car for the feature.

“The track took rubber early,” explained Hardy. “We got up to fourth from ninth before two cars fell out with blown tires giving us second. We were a fourth-place car for sure but caught a little luck. We didn’t think the rubber was going to come in that early and with it doing so we were not set up for the end of the race.”

After learning what the car needed on Friday night, adjustments were made heading into Saturday’s finale in Las Cruces.

Hardy ran second from sixth in his heat on Saturday night and re-drew the number four for his starting position in the feature.

“We had a car that could have won it, but it just didn’t play out that way,” he said. “We ran second or third for most of the race before crossing the line in second. It’s hard to be disappointed with our performance. After Casey took four years off from racing and just put together his program three or so weeks ago, to be able to run second both nights is something to build off of. A huge thanks to Casey Minks and his family for the opportunity and hospitality over the weekend. Big thanks to my dad for traveling with me and helping us all week. I also want to thank Joe Alverez and Robert for helping out.”

Hardy will travel to northern California this weekend to run his family-owned Micro Sprints in both the Super 600 and Non-Wing Divisions at Dixon Speedway on Friday night and Delta Speedway on Saturday for the first two rounds of the King of California Series.

Friday’s Results
Heat: 4th -> 3rd
Feature: 9th -> 2nd

Saturday’s Results
Heat: 6th -> 2nd
Feature: 4th -> 2nd
